What is a SpiritFed Life?
“Spirit Fed” simply means submitting your desires for your health to God and seek him first. Live out his will for the way you care for your body. This requires a lot of prayer, biblical understanding of health, being able to weed through diet hype to know what is true, and then live it out. It’s easy to learn about what to eat and how to exercise, but without a deeper purpose, your knowledge cannot help you have lasting impact.
Science Gives Direction, Faith Gives Purpose
I am a firm believer that the science of nutrition, fitness, and wellness is a big piece of the health journey puzzle. Just like all science, it evolves. As research continues to advance, we learn more. This can result in recommendations that seem confusing when everyone is saying something different. So here you will get evidence-based nutrition and wellness information, not anecdotal. I also believe that lifestyle change is essential to transforming your current health state to be whole and complete. As you have experienced, change is not easy. There needs to be a deeper meaning. This is why I believe that faith in God gives you a purpose that goes beyond the scale.
Spiritual Health: Your mindset matters. Most nutrition philosophies focus on you at the center of your purpose. Here the focus is on God. Seeking his will for your health is the best way to find joy in the health journey. As a Christian who is a Registered Dietitian, my goal is to teach you how to seek God’s will for your health and then live it out.
Physical Health: Follow a Low Inflammation Lifestyle. Inflammation is the precursor to disease. Whether it is how much sleep you get, how much or what you eat, when and how you exercise, it is important to limit inflammatory hormones which contribute to weight gain, diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers. My goal is to help you identify areas you may be increasing inflammation then make SMART decisions to improve inflammation, therefore reducing your risk for chronic disease.
Social/Emotional Health: Life is not meant to be lived alone. When you are on a health journey it is important to not only have people who support your goals, but to also listen to those who desire the best for you. This is the part of the journey I enjoy most. It is also important to care for your emotional well-being. You can’t do your best if you don’t feel your best. I love being a support, providing accountability when you need it most.
Environmental Health: Minimize toxins in your environment. Funny I put this on here being from Bakersfield, CA. We are known for having the worst air quality in the U.S. Maybe that is why I include this because I see the damaging effect is has on health. The truth is we are to be good stewards of what we are entrusted with. God has created this planet for us to live on. Choose foods and activities that contribute to a healthy planet and improve the quality of the environment you live in.
